The doctor would usually have you sent out to get lab and radiology tests but there are no tests for this disorder. The doctor will try and rule out any physical illnesses first. These physical illnesses can include brain disorders and diseases or even any head injuries. If all of the physical illnesses have been completely ruled out you might end up going to a psychiatrist. They might even send you to a psychologist. These doctors will then be able to evaluate you on a more mental level. If they see the symptoms and the signs they will then diagnose you with this disorder or not.
The main thing to do in order to treat this disorder is to eliminate the stress in your life. The psychologist or psychiatrist will help you point out the items that are causing you to be stressed on a daily basis. Once you have found the source of your stress, you will then have to face it and try to eliminate it. If your disorder was caused from a past trauma or accident the psychologist or psychiatrist will help you come to terms with whatever might have happened. Dissociative Fugue disorder can be easily diagnosed and can also be treated if you figure out the cause of the problem.
